Wood Duck on a lake

I completed this acrylic painting in 2007 - one of my first 5 paintings.
This is a WOOD DUCK - I gave it to a friend, 3 years ago. It hangs in his law office hallway in Fall City, WA. I guess I would value it at about $275.00,  if it were ever put back onto the market.
I used some fun techniques and some great colors.  

Painting with COLOR

Painting with color. Is this a redundant statement? or is it obvious?...I do not know the answer to it. I just know I like COLOR...and it makes me feel good. Depending on my mood, I like some colors on some days better than others. Does this happen to you? Let me know.... leave me a comment.... Thanks!

Sunrises...Sunsets......why do we love them?....is it because of old westerns, & riding off into them makes us feel like all is grand....or that so many colors are represented in their palets? or that we just are in awe of seeing them magically apear & disapear?... whatever the reason, I just LOVE them. There is nothing more photographed in all the world as a sunset or sunrise picture. I know this because my husband & I worked in a photo lab & saw the gazillions of photos of them that came through over the years....so I know I am in good company out there. It is clear to me we all love these kinds of images. "It is well with my soul" can be puchased in a nice frame of your choice for only 85.00. I created this from God's work....I think it is perfect. This is one of my favorite paintings. I started it in 2009 and it was fun while I was creating.  This is something I just painted from my head...no photo or picture, just something I dreamed up. The photo here is an azalea in my yard. It caught my eye this spring because of the beautiful colors I saw coming out of it. When you look deeper into the flowers you see 4 -5 colors. Pink, blush, magenta, wine, etc...etc... Then you see the same thing in all the greens, browns, golden tones...RICH, fun....exciting. A photo like this makes me want to use all these colors in something fun. THAT painting is yet to emerge from within me...but it will come. I am getting the urge to paint...right now as I write this. See you later on more BLOG posts...in the future. I will post painting, quilts photos, etc..all things I love to create.
