Think of the ohhs and ahhhs you will recieve by putting new and stylized products in your spaces. The name BILTMORE is a legacy of it's own. George Vanderbilt, started building his home and retreat in the Smokey Mountains in the 1890's. Kelly Kyle is pleased to announce that she has stepped up to be a sponsor of the Coup de Cascades, Bicycle Race, in Redmond. this 2nd year of the exciting event. The Coup de Cascades is the brain child of Kelly Kyle & Shannon Henery friends from the Ames Lake area in Redmond. Shannon & Kelly started talking one day and decided the PNW area needed an Ultra Marathon Cycling Association event, (UMCA) and the Redmond Rousers could use a Big Fundraiser. So we put our heads together and BAM!, here it is. This Year's RACE & RIDES are listed on the official Coup de Cascades website. CLICK HERE to go see more & to sign up. AUG 18th & 19th 2012. You can race solo or as a team....or ride in the supported rides of 25, 50 & 100 miles. Details are listed on the site.

NOTE...... LAST YEAR'S 2011, HIGHLIGHTS:
This first inaugural Race was on Sept 24th & 25th 2011 will started in Marymoor Park, LOT A....and will be a lot of fun. Racers are signing up as we speak. And We added 2 RIDES for people who wanted to do a 54 mile 1/2 century and 101 mile Century Ride. So now, we have something for everyone. This year the most of the money we raise will go to ENDING POLIO NOW, A campaign started by Rotary International, and funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. They gave Rotary a CHALLENGE Grant of 200 million dollars and said, ROTARIANS are trustworthy and "DO" what they say they will do. We have almost completed our part of the ask. NOW, we must help fund the last 27 million dollars... 173 million has already been raised in the past 2 years. The Redmond Rousers Rotary Club is on it's way to helping to wipe POLIO off the map. Thank You for your donations and support.
Kelly Kylehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09339701167148566745noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6770259393882099234.post-51227176295630289012012-06-20T14:42:00.000-07:002012-06-24T11:36:37.390-07:00Red Birds on Barrel

<span style="color: #333333; font-family: "Helvetica","sans-serif"; font-size: 11.5pt;">I would like to take the opportunity to introduce myself. I'm Kelly Kyle......a Business woman, ARTIST, Photographer, Blogger, Wife, Sister, Step Mother, Friend & Rotarian. Writing for blogs is relatively new for me in the past 2 years....although I loved creative writing projects in school since I was a kid. As an adult, when the mood struck me I would write about a trip here or there...or write long holiday letters to family and friends telling of stories and places I travelled. It's a wonderful giggle to look back at what you wrote 10, 20, 30 years later. Maybe something to post in a future story.

<span style="color: #333333; font-family: "Helvetica","sans-serif"; font-size: 11.5pt;">I think what I am most known for lately, is my community and humanitarian work with ROTARY. Caring about people and pulling for the underdog, is what I love to do. More specifically, the Redmond Rousers Rotary Club, of which I am the Current President, seems to get my foot in the door, when talking to people. I've taken on an unusual 2 year term as Madam Pres. Continuity, is a big part of being successful at any venture. When I stepped in as President on July 1st, of 2010, I had the enormous task of re-developing a club that was almost defunct. We were standing on our last leg of hope with only 5 members....and it was my job as the new President, to somehow, "save the club". So, I looked at this, as one of my biggest tasks at hand. Recruiting and setting some outrageous GOALS, then followed. #1, If we did not have people ..AKA....BODIES... in those seats, who cared about "community", then the club really was finished. So, I decided to stick to this #1 goal. I struck out one day, hitting the streets, getting to know my community. I met a man who changed the course of my life and it is ultimately, why I am writing this now. My world had a radical paradigm shift & everything in April of 2010, changed. Enter Social Media. This was 3 months before I became president and a few weeks after I had gone to P.E.T.S., Rotary's President Elect Training Seminar. Saving our club's community history & "Rousing" club image, was fresh on my mind. <span style="font-family: "Helvetica","sans-serif"; font-size: 11.5pt;">Blaine Millet, of WOM10<span style="color: #333333; font-family: "Helvetica","sans-serif"; font-size: 11.5pt;">, walked into my life that day, and started talking about Social Media Strategies. I was all ears. I knew nothing about it...but it was different, it was edgy, it was NEW. I liked what I heard. With blogging, we could control our future, not someone else's view of it. . After going home and doing some research, how could I not be interested...this was the future of business and communities everywhere. Social Media was coming on strong, and anyone who wanted to be "IN THE GAME" had better jump on....So I did. I bought into the plan. Now all I had to do was convince the other 6 in our club to do the same.

<span style="color: #333333; font-family: "Helvetica","sans-serif"; font-size: 11.5pt;">I giggle a little, because then, some 20 months ago... I really did not know what Social Media was. Not compared to now, anyways. So I quickly approached the club board members, all 4 of us, and told them, not asked, but told them my plan to revitalize the club through a social media strategy and campaign. I was passioate. I must have been hopped up on caffeine or something, or doing a little jig.... cause all I got were wide eyed stares. I might as well have been talking about little green men from Mars!. It was an uphill battle during my 15 minute talk of fame, with hands slapping on the table, and a wild voiced presentation. But in the end, I persuaded them, or maybe just scared them or wore them out. I don't know. But, they gave my ideas and me a chance to do something I believed in...even if I had only heard of it less than one week ago. But they did not know that.

<span style="color: #333333; font-family: "Helvetica","sans-serif"; font-size: 11.5pt;">I was allowed to spend money and time on what was perceived, a selfish project for ME. So, with that said, I got a little help from my new friend, Blaine in producing the effects of a well thought out plan. We were to use social Media to attract new people and to do good with our Rotary content. Nothing else the club had tried over the past 4 years, had worked, our numers were down to critical mass 7. The number of committed members were right there, only 3 staring back at me. We were in the position of being down, but not out.

<span style="color: #333333; font-family: "Helvetica","sans-serif"; font-size: 11.5pt;">I had "won", but only after a long 15 minute "rant", that I like to call my "passion", coming out. I had sealed my fate...good or bad, and I was headed in a unknown and untried direction for a Rotary Club. I could feel all 3000 pair of eyes on me as I tried something new. I felt a little numb & like Christopher Columbus setting out to find a new world. (Funny, some days, it still feels a little like that first day over and over again, but now with a familiar, ring to it.) It has been 18 months now, and praises, awards and accolades later... I am the district 5030 supper star. I was awarded the ROTARIAN of the YEAR award for our district of 3000 people...and 54 clubs. AWE inspiring stuff. There is a U-tube video, on our <span style="font-family: "Helvetica","sans-serif"; font-size: 11.5pt;">www.redmondrousersrotary.org<span style="color: #333333; font-family: "Helvetica","sans-serif"; font-size: 11.5pt;"> site, of me on stage...that looks like a "deer in the headlights" version of me as I accepted my great award. I count my blessings of gratitude and I guess being a trailblazer and new explorer is something I like, and never gets old for me. I love being adventurous, and in this instance it worked out well with my personality and my sense of wanting to change the culture of ROTARY....in the community, and in our world.

<span style="color: #333333; font-family: "Helvetica","sans-serif"; font-size: 11.5pt;">Proud? Damn straight...I am. I feel like the Queen of my Castle....Momma of my flock, and worth every minute I spend...working on making a better life for kids and families in need. Every time I have a bad day....I think of others who sleep in tents, or who do not have enough to eat, or who do not have a family to love them. I know I make a difference, and am extremely proud of what WE do in Rotary....helping others. I guess, I really don't know how to do anything else, any better...or I would do that.

<span style="color: #333333; font-family: "Helvetica","sans-serif"; font-size: 11.5pt;">So, to conclude this story and bring you up to date on what happened after my 1st year as President, July 1 2010 to June 30, 2011... I recruited 23 new people into our club. WOW....that is amazing, even for me to re-read that stat. An unbelievably rare accomplishment at any level of recruiting in a Rotary club, especially when I didn't know what Social Media really was. We won 3 more awards, the Presidential citation, the literacy zone and district awards, made a lot of new friends, made my mom proud and made a great story to tell my grand children someday. So, that is the good news. The bad news is that all of the newbies did not stay in Rotary. Some of them decided it wasn't the right fit, long term for them...although they liked the club. Some lost their jobs, & moved away...But MOST of them stayed. Our Club now has 18 solid members in it. I have the good fortune to say, they are all now friends of mine.

<span style="color: #333333; font-family: "Helvetica","sans-serif"; font-size: 11.5pt;">SIDEBAR: I forgot to tell you about the catalyst to this story....and it matters, so here is why I decided to do what I did. One of my beloved and dear friends in our old club of only 8 people, was Russ. My longtime buddy of 10 years, Russ Newman, suddenly died after a heart bypass in Feb 2010. 3 weeks before his surgery, he shuffled into the meeting like an 85 year old man does occasionally, but this time he looked different. I said to him, "Russ what's the matter, why are you walking so slow?" He said to me..."well, my Dr. says I have a bad ticker and I need surgery". We proceeded to talk for 10 minutes about him and all he had going on. Who would feed his parrot ,was a big decision, I recall. He then pulled me close to him gave me a hug, and said to me, "Kelly-Girl", (his nickname for me) "You are going to be the best Rouser President EVER!". I was taken back by his confidence in me...and told him I hoped so, but I doubted it. We had had some really good ones in our past 20 years....like him, Bruce, Eric, Tom, Lisa and others. But somehow, his faith in me, was real, and I could feel it. I remember I cried hard when I found out he died in the recovery room after the operation. I was just making plans to go see him in the hospital, when I heard the news. I had lost my buddy, my pal, my one biggest fan & supporter in this presidential run....of a year in my life. What was I gonna do now?....I cried some more. Then a few days later, I went to P.E.T.S....and found the courage & faith he had told me about. I found my deep LOVE of Rotary and WHY I was there, training to become the new president. I was trying to revive an old dead club into a new alive club again, and it was going to be a lot of hard work. After this amazing weekend, I was now up to the challenge. Russ' words stuck with me...as they do today and everyday. He was and is a BIG part of why we are still here...and if I could reach out to tell him, thank you, this is what I would say. "Russ, Thank You, from the bottom of my heart for your kind words and faith in, Lil ole me. Love you, Kelly Girl"

<span style="color: #333333; font-family: "Helvetica","sans-serif"; font-size: 11.5pt;">OK ...so, back to the story of the newbies,.....Some of them listened to me and followed my urgings to start new committees, and to become new members within district committees and events. We even tackled a BIG new project together: Our new WORLD CLASS signature event, the <span style="font-family: "Helvetica","sans-serif"; font-size: 11.5pt;">Coup de Cascades<span style="color: #333333; font-family: "Helvetica","sans-serif"; font-size: 11.5pt;">. Our Bicycle fundraiser to help eradicate END POLIO in the world, just went viral with the news that we are now <span style="font-family: "Helvetica","sans-serif"; font-size: 11.5pt;">a RAAM qualifier<span style="color: #333333; font-family: "Helvetica","sans-serif"; font-size: 11.5pt;">. Some members I know better than others, but all in all, we are working towards a common GOAL; to make our community a better place, to live, work and do business together...through Service Above Self...our ROTARY motto. Once again in our 21 year history, the Redmond Rousers Rotary Club is on the Map, literally. Our newest venture in Social Media is an ad placement on the <span style="font-family: "Helvetica","sans-serif"; font-size: 11.5pt;">4th AVE MAPS<span style="color: #333333; font-family: "Helvetica","sans-serif"; font-size: 11.5pt;">...a new advertising piece that is an interactive MAP of the area for residents and new people in town. Microsoft has put their TAG in it for people to use as a scannable device to go to different websites to see more info about the companies in the MAP. We plan to use it to attract more attention to our 425 mile Coup de Cascades biking event in Aug 18th & 19th of 2012. Along with that, it will be a great way for people to find out where we meet and come see us for dinner on Tuesday evenings at the Old Redmond Schoolhouse. We meet at 5:30pm at 16600- N.E. 80th in Redmond. Hope to see you too for a FREE dinner with new friends. bring your business cards and a smile!. Check out our speaker schedule to find someone you might like to hear, and come on down.... we'll have a seat for you. <span style="font-family: "Helvetica","sans-serif"; font-size: 11.5pt;">www.RedmondRousersRotary.org<span style="color: #333333; font-family: "Helvetica","sans-serif"; font-size: 11.5pt;">
ORIGINAL, 20x 24 framed FOR SALE - $2,500.00
Here is one of my latest paintings from the "Oroville artist's challenge" 2011. All 15 people from the Oroville, Tonaskat, Loomis, Chesaw, Molson, areas, made their artistic interpretation of an inspirational photo by the local, late Mr. Hughes, 3 deer at Sidley lake.

All the artists were given 2 months to paint the photo their way and return it to hang at the ART GALA in Oroville, WA. The town response was great, with 70 people turning out to come meet the many artists who were there to give a brief description of their piece. The Oroville Friends of the Library put on the ART Show and donations were given towards the building fund and operations accounts. All in all the night was a success, and money was raised to help the Friends of the Library succeed. A good time was had by all.

My next showing could be online with EMG = Everywhere Media Group, ...or a couple different Restaurants, community centers, etc... in the area.....and possibly at Soul Food Books in Redmond. Keep checking in for more details.
I wonder, because a friend of mine actually makes these and sells them for a long running fundraiser. All the money she makes goes to charity. I love the subtle huges in the trees and grasses. The house is so inviting too. Someplace I would live or visit. I painted this with just a picture of PEACE in my head. No pre-concieved notions....or places. I could be anywhere, on any autumn day.

I guess I should paint like this more often, as it produced a wonderful result. Ever have one of those days when it ALL comes together...I like it when it does as it makes things flo smoothly....onto the canvas. Trees, Flowers, Rocks & water....all things I like to paint. My teacher, Marsha Bell, from Oroville, Wa says she likes the trees too and overall feeling.

This is an ACRYLIC painting, just like all the other I have done so far. I will try some oils as everyone says it "moves" differently on the canvas.
This SOLD for $250.00 in 2009.
Who doesn't love the Orcas here in Puget Sound? The LOCAL PNW Orca resident pods all have distinct markings on them and unique numbers and of course names too. In this painting, there is an adult male in the foreground with two females and a baby. They are all just swimming off into the sunset. A metaphor of life perhaps...but just the way I like it, in my world.

I was once on a whale watching boat, in the daytime, and the orcas did come this close, actually closer to our boat. It was an awesome experience, that I will not soon forget. Maybe that is why I love to paint them so frequently. This is one of eight I have done. All different, yet similar.

Do you love orcas like I do? Let me know why....at.... blondee7333@hotmail.com
Thanks for reading.

I completed this acrylic painting in 2007 - one of my first 5 paintings.
This is a WOOD DUCK - I gave it to a friend, 3 years ago. It hangs in his law office hallway in Fall City, WA. I guess I would value it at about $275.00, if it were ever put back onto the market.
I used some fun techniques and some great colors.
Kelly Kylehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09339701167148566745noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6770259393882099234.post-62586036038798719902010-12-25T22:11:00.000-08:002010-12-25T22:11:52.585-08:00Christmas Day 2010

Christmas day has been delightful.....except no snow....I think it would have been PERFECT if we had that.....but ok...I'll not be too picky. So, heres a photo I like, of SNOW outside...in the Mts. So, we brought in the morning at midnight at the Christmas Eve Candlelight service at Bear Creek United Methodist Church...it was AWESOME....loved it and the people are wonderful. We sang carols and listened to the wonderful news of the baby Jesus....and the story. Our friends John, and joan from the Rousers joined us....making it more memorable.

Got up at 8am AM, made a pot of coffee, a quiche, and opened some presents with our friend Joan. Ate breakfast....enjoyed lots of good conversation. Joan and I did "hair day". I dyed her hair. Looks great.

A couple hours before dinner we had wines, cheeses, crackers, olives, sliced meats....preshuido and salami... and 2 RIP-Roarin' games of Scrabble.... Really fun! Our youngest (Steven) called to wish us a happy day from California, and Merry Christmas... Thanks....

Then we cleared the table....set it for 5. Ian (our oldest) and Erika, Joanie, Gordon and I .... we set the table of mild elegance....and took the meat out of the oven. PERFECTION! Made the augrautin potatoes...boiled the lobsters.... and we sat down to a most enjoyable FEAST of FEASTS!!!! Dinner of Prime Rib, Lobster and Augrautin potatoes, Sparkly cider and Asti Spumanti....bubbly to wash it all down. YUM-O. Absolutely NO room for veggies or anything else! PERFECT!

A few presents.....and lots of fun, photos and laughter along the way....on a scale of 1-10...definatley an 12! Here's hoping yours was successful and memorable. Happiness and cheer to you, from our home to yours.

MERRY CHRISTMAS 2010.
Hugs and kisses,
Many people have asked to see the photos and hear the stories. ok....I'll fill you in on the details. I had 3 months to paint. As you guessed, I procrastinated till the very end....and had only 4 days till the show. So, one night about 11pm, I got out my acrylics and told my hubby, see ya in the AM when you get up...as I will most likely be up ALL night painting. Most pieces take me 8-12 hours to create...this one just came outta nowhere....BAM- 2 hours!

Ellie Braman has been working on the "friends of the Library" fundraising for many years and she is the town go-getter, so click the link above to see more on the event. All the Artists were given the same 5x7 color photograph to do a painting or something. We were given "creative liscence" to do whatever we wanted, but it had to be of that photo. As you can imagine, all 15 entries turned in were COMPLETELY..... and TOTALLY different. All Creative and wonderful.

We expected about 40 people, but were thrilled when we had 70 people in the room enjoying the art. $5.00 donations were taken at the door, and ballots were given for a "people's choice" award and picking the next picture for the next event. A large chocolate fountain with different fruits, doughnuts, and pretzels around it, stood in the gathering area and was enjoyed by all. There are some really talented artists in the community, of which only about 1/2 came out and participated in this event. Each artist was invited to come forward and talk for a few minutes about their piece that night, which made for a great summary of each artists journey.
We picked the next piece, and Ellie is hard at work getting all the details ready to do it again, soon. Count me in!...Wa-hoooooooooooooo.Kelly Kylehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09339701167148566745noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6770259393882099234.post-55826283328580455902010-11-21T15:17:00.000-08:002010-11-21T15:17:48.911-08:00Tutorial 02 : How to draw an EYE (Part I)
